Hello, I have a 1998 E150 conversion van with drum rear brakes.
I rebuilt the rear brakes (shoes and everything, including one new drum) a while back, but do to some complications wasn't able to test drive it until recently. I got a temporary tag and took it for a drive.
When driving backward everything sounds and seems alright, but when I move forward there’s a grinding sound, something like when the shoes are worn out or a shoe is rubbing in one spot.
I was hoping that someone could give me some ideas, of what to look for.
Thanks for any help
Thanks for the replies,
I don't think they were rusted, I hosed them off with some brake cleaner before I put it back together. But that is the first thing I'll look at to see if I missed a rusted area, of if something is bent.
Thanks again,
I thought I had adjusted them evenly, but it's been many years since I've worked with drum brakes. I'll look at that also.
I had planned to work on it this weekend, but it's been raining most of the time, and looks like it will most of the week. I'm a driveway mechanic on this thing, so I'll have to work when I can.
Thanks,
