Can I fully assembly dash before installation ?- frame-off restoration
Can I fully assembly the dash [instrument panel] prior to installing it in my cab? By assembly, I mean install the instrument cluster, radio, ac/heat control, glove box, switches, etc. before dropping it into the bare cab.
I am in the process of a frame-off "restoration" of my 1978 shortbed F100. I think it would be easier if I fully assembled the dash before installation. I don't want to scratch the new interior paint. It seems that the assembled dash would be installed at the factory to reduce manufacturing costs.
Thanks all!
P.S. Looks like the '73 - '79 group has the most activity.

No you can't, there are way TOO MANY things that have to be removed to hook them up.
Heater cables need to be hooked= control has to be pulled out.
Cluster needs to have the speedo & circuitry plug which means it would have to be removed
Glovebox has to be removed.
