Very disappointing. Went to a popular dealership here in Tampa that advertises its ability to do custom truck mods. Took them my new 2017 platinum 250. I wanted a bull bar with light strip and backup alarm rugged to upfitter switches.
They had my truck for a week after telling me parts were in day after I dropped it off. I would call asking for updates and got nothing until today.....
I go to dealership and they tell me a bull bar with built in light does not exist for my truck and tried to sell me on a different brand altogether then the one they told me they ordered then said they could not rig the reverse alarm to my upfitter switch which they also assured me they could.
Anyone know a good truck mod place in Tampa/Orlando area who knows what they are doing??
This sucks, but the blame shouldn't be put on Ford, just that dealership. They were the one in the wrong not the Manufacturer. I cannot help with Shops in your area but what you're asking to do shouldn't be hard, but definitely not something a dealer would normally do. Dealer techs like plug and play and to follow manuals and procedures, not use their brain to think of how to re-wire something without instructions.
That's not cool. Sorry for your troubles. Perhaps you could contact the manufacturer of the bull bar you are wanting and see if they could recommend a shop in the area?
How are you thinking that you want your back-up alarm to work?
For example:
1) only in reverse AND when the upfitter is set to ON
2) Does not need to be in reverse, and only on when the Upfitter is set to On?
3) Describe something else that you may have had in mind...
And I can try and scratch a wire diagram together on how to do it, and if you can wait until Mid summer, I will be in your area on a family trip and should be able to wire that up within 20-30 minutes a the cost of about 20' of wire, a half dozen wire ties, a few butt connectors, some heat shrink, and a 12v relay (The relay is only needed if you want to retain it to work while only in reverse, option 1 listed above), and a couple beers...

thats really cool of you to offer. I would say option number 2 would be my preferred set up. Keep me posted for sure. I'll throw a steak in with those beers. I'm probably going to hold off doing anything for awhile anyways.

option 2 is the easiest, there are 2 ways to handle that. Either find where the wire originates (fuse box) and feed the upfitter of your choice to the feed side of the fuse, or cut the wire at the rear and feed upfitter to the rear directly to the alarm and only use the fuse for the upfitter.
I used to have good luck with Xtreme Jeep on Florida Ave. just south of Bearss Ave. but I moved to Ocala 6 years ago and I'm not even sure if it still has the same owners. Best of luck to you.

i guess I was nervous about warranty issues with ford down the road if I didn't use them for the mods? Is that something I should worry about?
No.
There's no need to worry about your warranty with any modification you do. The only time it could be an issue is IF the mod you make is the actual, direct cause of a problem with your truck.
