I have an order for a F250 CCLB XLT 4x4 sitting at the dealers waiting to be picked up by ford. I have it Shadow Black and I am 2nd guessing myself. I love the way a clean black truck looks. For the guys that own the Shadow Black, how do you like the color, and do the swirls show up in the finish after a few washings like they do in the really high gloss blacks. Thanks for the input.

My first black truck was a 2001 Dakota Quad Cab 4X4. Damn that truck looked good after it was washed.
My next truck was a 2012 F-150 FX4 in Tuxedo Black. Damn that truck looked good right after it was washed. It met an early demise due to someone likely on a phone...
With black, one hour (or less) after washing, sitting outside (or even in the garage), it is just covered with dust, pollen, you name it. First drive in the rain, its splashed top to bottom with dirt. First snow, its white with salt.
This go around, I decided never again with black. I was thinking one of the whites offered on the F-250. That was vetoed by the wife. (She also vetoed the cloth interior when she found out only my seat was powered).
So, I went with Blue Jeans, and my wife loves it. While its still not a "light" color, it is better than black for showing dirt. With that said, NOTHING looks better clean, than a black truck...
I have a 250 ultimate lariat on order in shadow black. I previously had a 2010 F150 in tuxedo black and absolutely loved that color. If shadow black is close to that I will have no regrets. Yes it shows dirt and that just gives an excuse to shine it back up.
The Tuxedo Black had pearlescent effect pigments in it to give it some multi-colored sparkle within the black base coat. The tsunami in Japan a few years back interrupted the supply of the effect pigments and Ford had a problem making Tuxedo Black. I believe that is why it was replaced with the Shadow Black which does not have any of these pigments. It is more of a basic black now.
My 96 Ram was black, and like everyone else noted, looked amazing after a good bath. This picture was at 6 years old after I had it "restored" by the contract body shop my Dodge dealer used. (It had some pretty substantial body wear-and-tear on it and I wanted it to look good again.) The paint man at the body shop did an amazing job with the polisher after a full repaint - that truck looked like a black mirror for the rest of its time with me. Doubtful I'll go black again though.

I went to a local dealer today just to look at the trucks in the lot. I think the problem is that all of the colors look great. Still leaning to the Shadow Black, but I think I will take a ride tomorrow to a dealer that has a bunch of 250's. Then make my final decision then.
Then I will think it about it for the next 6 to 8 weeks. lol

My shadow black f350 ccsb just arrived at the dealer today. Looks awesome. I plan on putting on a set of black fuels with 35x12.50r20 toots . Not all colors look good with black wheels though. Don't worry about swirls, it's all about how you wash and wax it. My black 2009 f350 ccsb still looks amazing. good luck and enjoy.
