Gary, Ford 384
Take a close look at Ford384's large bracket. it is completely different than what I have and the Stock Photo shows. The one you have Ford384 is completely different, possible a "newer" or "older" version that possibly does not use the inner bracket?
Ron - I'm not 100% sure I understand what you are saying. But, I think what you are saying is that the plate Jonathan/Ford F834 has is the inboard plate (461A08) that connects the inside of the box to the radiator support and the coolant/washer reservoir. Unfortunately I was thinking it is 461A10, meaning the outside plate that mounts the box to the fender.
I'll have to go look at my two brackets to compare with that one. But I can't see how it would do away with the outside bracket.
So, Jonathan, I have that plate but just didn't have it in the picture. Sorry for the confusion, I didn't read your post well enough. But, I'll still be happy to do the work on the bezel.
His larger-of-the-two plates (461A08) that sandwiches between the box and washer tub, its a different configuration that what is shown in the Garagemahall.
What I have is the same as Ford's "stock photo" and are like the drawing in the Garagemahall
Wow! With the pictures scattered across several posts and pages it is tough to compare. So, I'll put them in one post and you can then point out the differences you see.
But, let me point out one thing I've noticed - the tab that sticks out to the left in the first picture and the third picture is for the early style coolant recovery reservoir. As shown here on my site, the early (80-84) reservoirs used a rectangular tab and the later ones (85-86) used a round pin. I haven't tried this with the bracket on the tool box, but I discovered yesterday that the auxiliary battery tray I have has the same rectangular tab and the later reservoir's pin will not go in it. That's not a big problem as you can run a drill bit through the slot at the point where you want the pin to go. And, should you think that you'll hold out for a bracket with a hole instead of a slot, take a look at the page on my web site as it shows the catalog entries, and the tool box was only offered from 1980 through 1984. So there is no bracket with a hole instead of a slot. (NB: I think there's an error in the catalog as it shows the outer bracket on the fender was used through 1985 on the Bronco, but only 1984 on the pickup. But, it also shows the inner bracket and the box itself were only available through 1984 for the Bronco.)
Here's Jonathan's first pic showing the plate he got with the box:
Here's his recent find of a plate w/o a box:
And this is the picture I have on my web site here:
Ron - I've updated the page on my web site (Tool Box - ???Gary's Garagemahal) to include a discussion of the 2nd bracket, a link to this thread, and info on two of the three bolts shown in the illustration. Unfortunately I cannot find a reference to the other one, but will see if I have the right ones and then list their sizes if so
And, I'd like to include of pic of your 461A10 bracket when you get it if that's ok.
No Problem, do you see in Jonathan's first post photo you pasted how the low hanging "tail" is completely different?
The tab in the red circle is consistent, the "tail" in green is different.
Gary and Ron, I'm just not seeing a difference... the pic of the bracket that I bought yesterday is showing the face that mates to the box, not the face that mates to the reservoir tank. I'm not sure what difference you are seeing in the hanging portion. I may be able to take some comparative photos tomorrow.
I will take another pic tomorrow. I really think that is just an odd camera angle. The curve in the bracket is compressed to two dimensions and distorts the shape. I have a total of three brackets I can compare side by side.
And I have two brackets I can compare. But, according to the catalog there's only one of those brackets, and with an E0TZ number it was engineered in 1980.

Bill - Did Ford really use that bracket? So far no one I've talked to has seen one.
