I used a two-part goop called Flexible Parts Repair Material from 3M, designed to repair urethane bumper covers. I used it to try to cover up the really deep cracks. However, that stuff sets up very quickly so you have to work fast. Like most filler stuff, you need to make sure you sand off all the loose oxidized bits so the goop can adhere properly.

I need to repair the bumper cover on my Aerostar as well, but it's hard to find the side pieces for the rear bumper of an extended length van. On my Mustang, I put fiberglass mesh behind the holes and cracks that I had to repair. It gives the repair more strength than using any filler material by itself. I will try this with the Aerostar, when I get around to it.
