I have a 1998 Expedition also, and what seems like I have the same issues as everyone else, but mine isn’t running so low on the idle, in park and neutral it runs at around 1200 rpm. As soon as you put it in Drive or Reverse it drop to about 1000 rpm.
I think I’m going to take a look at the elbow at the pcv then start replacing things. The first will be the IAC (idle air control) and the TPS (Throttle position sensor). This idle thing is getting annoying. Any thoughts let me know please. By the way Mil1ion; thank you for the translation of Mountainman101 message, he tried, and what he posted was helpful at least to me I never thought to even look at the elbow of the PCV.
Ok boy's and girl's out there that had or are still having issues with their Idle jumping up and down like a little freaking rabbit. From you PCV Valve left hand side of the engine (looking at the engine) follow the hard plastic tub the the rear of the engine where you will find a inlet port into the manafold, I did and found that the rubber elbow back there was soft and splite. I replaced it and HELLO all back to normal. I hope this helps out. If you have any questions, list them in the form and I'll try and help..
Feels good to have a smooth running truck again...
