new to site
im starting with a $600 rust bomb, but it runs great and I have always thought that the 460 c6 combo to be unparreleled.
I just finished reading post on catagories for ?s in proper places, and am not finding any subcatagories to post in. I believe that this is a good thing as I have many ?s about differenet parts and options for this truck.
any help will be appreciated, but I must admit Ive seen alot of sites where people with lots of experience will belittle and/or catcall "newbies" or inexperienced members. I sure hope this isnt one of those sites cause I am not a mechanic and did not grow up in a racing family. I am just a middle aged working class father of 4 trying to build his dream truck.
any help or tips would be deeply appriciated.
any nonconstructive critism will not
Welcome to
. Boy have you stumbled upon the right forum. There are plenty of great, knowledgeable people on here who are more than happy to answer your questions and help you out. There is VERY little flaming on this site, but a few crusty oldtimers might set you straight on a thing or two. No worries - they are still trying to help.So post up some pics of your truck, ask your questions, and join in the fun.
There are some red "sticky" threads at the top of the forum that are must-reads.

Good place to be when looking for help on our old vehicles.
If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, right hand side you'll see "Forum Jump" and a rectangular box. Hit the little arrow...scroll down or around 'till you see "big block"...385 series..... 429 460 .... . Click on that and it'll bring you to the 429/460 specific forum.
And, "Big Block" nomenclature is a big no-no, although a lot of people use it. That label is a GM thing only as Ford never referred to these engines as such.
Also, har har, I'm one of those grumpy old farts to which Celtic One referred.

A long time Ford enthusiast just passed away, had a late '70's Ford pickup, all sorts of parts and literature including factory vacuum and electrical diagrams, shop manuals, parts catalogs.
His two sisters are disposing of his property, I wouldn't be surprised if they threw all the parts & literature away.

When you get a chance, read the stickies at the top of the page-lots of good info there, and many questions already answered.
And we love pictures of our beloved dentsides-post a few when you can, and when you have a question-they're worth a thousand words!
