It seems that I'm getting what I would call "fairly substantial" scratches on the sides of my 17 350 (Magnetic) from the AT tires throwing stones up. I've never had this happen with any other vehicle. Am I the only one?
I'm guessing you guys do not have running boards or you have the power running boards. I have almost 3000 miles on mine but I have the extended running boards and that must be blocking the rocks and such. The only scratches I have in mine are due to my own stupidity (I just need to buff them out).
i have a painted bumper (platinum) where must of the chips are but my last 3 trucks all had painted bumpers and i would get like 1 or 2 chips a year with those platinum's this one its 2,000 per half year!!! how dose that compare!
i have good flaps on all 4 tires to help protect from my own rocks
I do some detailing on the side so I have some experience with other brands of paint and I've noticed the clear coat on these trucks are pretty soft and can swirl up pretty easily .. The water based paints manufactures use now-a-days is pretty crappy

Seeing as you live in Alberta I have noticed that the rock chips on all of our vehicles are way worse then previous years. I think were I live they have used way more gravel on the roads then in the past.
In Alberta if your truck does not have rock chips in wind shield it's just not a truck. Maybe a minivan with a really big open trunk. 5000 kms with aftermarket tires and rims no chips I can see and driving gravel roads, ice roads, farm roads..
I agree with you, I have a black platinum and the paint does seem sensitive. I dropped my truck off to install the Suntek Ultra full body clear film wrap and modesta BC05 nano coating on the whole exterior and Modesta wheel coating. This should help protect the truck.
