Some trucks (i.e., F350 w/ 18" or 20" wheels) are fitted with five-leaf rear spring packs that already include the "overload" leaf. There's nothing more to add, even if you order the camper package.

Has anyone looked into adding the extra factory overload springs and snubbers to a truck built without them?
The pre-tapped holes are in the frame for the snubber mounts for an easy bolt on.
It looks like just loosening the U-bolts and slipping in the extra leaf should be pretty easy.
Any ideas on where to obtain such parts?

Not being familiar with the factory overload spring, what I can add is, one typically cannot just "slip in" a new leaf. In my experience, the spring pack needs to be removed, the spring center bolt removed, the leaf added, and likely a new (longer) center bolt inserted to keep the leaf pack together. The other thing to check is the u-bolts, to see if they're long enough to add a leaf to the pack.
If the factory overload attaches differently, just ignore the above. There are some that attach like this:
i did this to my 2006. you can order the parts to add them.
got to pull the pack apart, add the top spacer and leaf, clamp then bolt back together, reinstall block and u bolt for both sides, and obviously the snubbers. Or find a take off from someone who lifted their truck
I would like to do that to my front coils. I mean replace them with the snow plow package front coils. I think that would rate them at 6000# instead of 5200# that I have now. Does anyone know if that would up the payload from the current number?

Yes, you can do this. Takes about 45 mins and the Ford coils are about $90 each. Many will say the ride is too stiff with 6,000 lb coils, but I find it the other way: that is the truck handles like crap with soft front coils. I actually went with 7,500 lb coils and the ride is great.
No, it won't change your official gross axle weight rating (GAWR). The Dana 60 front axle is rated at 6,000 lbs, but Ford rates it by the spring code. In your case it is 5,200 lbs since your truck was manufactured with those coils. I intentionally found a truck with the snow plow prep package so I could get a GAWR of 6,000 lbs on my door sticker.

Kubota- funny, I did the same on my 06. I have a 4,000 lb Lance camper and need all the spring I can get. Ordered everything from Whitebear Ford. The only thing I did custom was to add a second upper auxiliary spring to each side while I was doing it. In fact my 16 came with the upper auxiliary springs, but when I added a 1.5" rear add a leaf I also added a second upper auxiliary spring. In looking through spring dimensions I found that an oem upper auxiliary spring from a 2005-2007 Super Duty works great when paired with upper auxiliary springs on the 2016s. Not sure if the leafs are different on the 17s.
