ticking noise

I noticed a ticking noise yesterday in the vicinity of directly under engine when at idle and cold....seems to go away when truck is driven and hot so not metal expanding etc......I know about the regen causing noises but would have thought that would be further back of the truck around the exhaust components,,,anyone have any ideas?

That is an incorrect assumption. An exhaust leak will tick and it will go away or at least get quieter as the head and manifold heat up and expand...closing the gap between the two.

I heard the same thing from mine the other day, goes away after you drive but very noticeable and annoying. I was going to take it in and have them look at it but seems as if they/Ford are doing nothing about it

I'm almost totally deaf and I can hear a ticking but I wrote it off as one of the normal sounds of a diesel engine. Some sounds can be telegraphed to sound like it's coming from a different location than where it is actually being created.
