Weird Brake Light Issue
#17
The turn signal/hazard switch is brand new. I guess I could have gotten a bad one which could produce this issue. Anything's possible.

You may be onto something here. The cruise control is looking for a load when brakes are applied. A load that does not exist with LEDs present. There could also be voltage leakage happening when the key is in run. This leak could very well be coming from the cruise control module. I do get a small amount of voltage and in the dark I do see the LEDs do actual light up a bit with no lights on.
Check my research:

So I'm thinking that with this extra load, and the key in run that extra voltage lights up the LEDs enough on the brake/turn circuit enough to light whereas, without lights on, there is just the voltage leak that doesn't power them enough to be full on bright. Forgive me it is 1 am and I should not be up at all but I hate something I can't explain.
So I ordered some load resistors on amazon, should arrive on wed. It was like $7 so worth a shot. I'll report back with results.

Well the issue has been solved! Adding the load resistors on the turn/brake circuit was the issue. If I did not have cruise control, I don't believe this would have been an issue. One issue solved, on to the next one...starter going out as of today. At least that's quick and simple to fix.
