Throttle position Sensor
thought I finally bought that chevy I kept threatening, huh? No such luck.So I'm still w/ the old 96 f150.
I'm thinking its the throttle position sensor. Don't ask me why, but after tearing the intake apart in search of an egr error, the engine was idling super fast -- replaced the idle air control and that fixed that problem (but not the insufficent egr flow problem).. ..so this leads me into the idle control parts.
major bad leap in judgement?? How do I test the TPS? ..the resistance is right, according to Chilton, but someone told me to do a sweep test.. ..testing the voltage from the green wire from the sensor to ground. What should this voltage be reading?
Honestly, it sounds reasonable. When I first start up and go, there seems to be a huge "wooshing" sound. Like a vaccum leak. but I think i've sprayed a case of C+2 around that engine compartment and can't find a leak anywhere. After driving for a while it calms down, but it does seem to fall on its face now and then.
This couldn't be something like a valve job problem, could it?
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Talk with you later....
