How long is the trial subscription supposed to be? I swear mine is only 3 months. What happened to the year subscription automakers used to give out? They want $15.99 per month to keep is going. If you hold out will they lower the price? I like it but my Super Duty is not my daily driver so that's a lot of money for just a few weekend excursions per month. Thanks for any comments
supposed to be 6 months. Ignore their renewal letters as their rates are ridiculous.
Once you approach cancelation, negotiate their $25 monthly plan for 5 months. The downside to it is you have to play the cancelation game with them every 5 months and need to set it on your calendar because they will charge you the regular quarterly rate once the 5 months run out.
I've been doing this for 6 years now.. They always try to get me on their $80+/- rate for 12 months and my response is always.. why would I pay $80 a year when I can pay $60 a year by just calling up before my promo ends? They always renew it on all my vehicles.
It is 6 months -- My Ford salesman even told me to just "hold out" when they start sending you the letters and calls and you can usually get it for about $5-$6 / month...
Audio is 6 months, traffic/weather stuff is 5 years.
I call up XM every 6 months and usually get away with 6 months for $25 ($30 or so after fees and taxes).
Sometimes, I get 5 months for $20.
Just hem and haw that it is too expensive. They'll offer $99 for a year (which isn't bad really). This year, on my 150, I scored a year of XM AND online XM for $99.
Hem and haw some more and then they'll come down to around 60. Then eventually 5/6 months for 20/25 bucks.
Then I set a calendar reminder for 6 months to call them back. I've been doing this for about 5 or 6 years now and it works every time.
Every year they send me a letter with a $250-$300/yr contract. Every year I call in to cancel and say, "Last year I paid $99 for the year." Every year they honor that rate in order to keep me as a subscriber.
You have to set a calendar alert because the day to counsel is only a 24 hour period when you are on a $25/5 month plan. They don't allow you to cancel on any other date. Stupid!

Nah, that's not true. I've called a couple days after expiration over the years and when they wouldn't play ball, I'd cancel and they'd magically pull out the cheap 5/6 month "deals".
You just have to be stubborn. And be willing to turn the radio off for a period of time. After you do, they'll come begging...
