Vehicle Security Module pinout

I posted over at the E-Series forum but have not gotten a bite yet, so I thought I would give you guys a try since the VSM/CSM has been discussed here before. Here's the original post:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post17140696

My 2006 E350 VSM module is very similar to what Ford used in early 2000 Super Duties, F150's, Excursions, etc. Looks a lot like this:

Name: s-l1600.jpg
Views: 5175
Size: 37.8 KB

Look familiar? Anybody recognize the module and have a pinout diagram for the module. I'm hoping to add a keypad and as you can see from my wiring manual, the keypad was not even an option. Thanks.

I don't have the 2006 pinout only the 2005 for the E-350, but take a look at this PDF it might be the same.

That would be the exact data that he already has (see referenced thread).

The VSM from the comparable 2006 Super Duty has a completely different set of connectors (3 of them) with one dedicated to the wired keypad. You'd have to pretty much rewire everything to the module after getting the correct connectors.

Assuming your van has RKE, why don't you simply install a wire-less keypad? Ford made them as accessories, you know, and you can usually find them on ebay.

It doesn't apply to the 06 E-series, different generation security system.

Really wasn't my concern, he asked for a diagram for an early F-150 that showed the keypad wiring so I gave him one. The rest is up to him to try and see if it will work or not. If it were me I'd go for the wireless one you suggested, but that's me.

I don't see any alternative to the wireless route.

Oh? There's always an alternative...just be sure to use a combination lock and you won't need a key.

Your right, the easy thing would be to get the wireless. I considered it. I just did not want to be reliant on the equivalent of a keyfob battery that would not get regular use. I don't intend this to be a daily use item that you would notice
a failing battery in. This would be for emergencies and infrequent use.

The battery in the keyless will last years, probably beyond the life of the van.

You're sure putting a lot of extra effort into trying to put a square peg into a round hole for something with such infrequent use.

Good luck.

Thanks. This is exactly what i was looking for. From what I am reading here, suggest that the modules were very similarly configured. The question is whether the guts of the module are the same. I'll have to dig into it after I get the doors together.

Tell her if you weren't wired that way you would've traded her in quite a while ago on a newer model with more features. Let us know how that goes.
