stalls on idle

stalls on idle
I have a 94 explorer that just started to do this. After startup, it revs by itself and will stall out when in idle if I don't give it some gas. It also makes an air suction sound if I don't give it gas in idle.
I think it's the fuel filter, but I don't want to go and change it and find out it's something else. Any ideas........
Also, two weeks ago it expelled it's transmission fluid all of a sudden. When we filled it back up to find where it was dripping, there was no leak at all. This has happened to my dads GM before, but he has never seen in a Ford. Anyone else experienced this??
