My '90 F150 4x4 has been flashing the "Check engine" light while on the freeway. It only comes on for about 10 secs then goes back out. It did it once to me about a month ago, then yesterday it did it three times within 15 mins.
I know it could be a million different things. It apparently isnt anything major, because its still running fine. Is there a way to pull the codes off (i.e. some combo with the ignition). And also where to find a list of codes. (maybe on the net?)
This seems to be one of the more popular sites for retrieving DTC . If you use the test & dont have a multimeter , just connect the Self Test Input Pin & The Signal Return Pin With A Jumper Wire , Turn the Key To Run & Use The Check Engine Light To Count The Flashes . Read thru all the info on that page & remember there are different phases to the Self Test IE: KOEO , Continious Memory , Often times diagnosing the code involves following the pinpoint test for a specific phase of the test . Also , If you have a manual trans , hold the clutch pedal to the floor during the tests .
