With friends like that.....
As for the burn unit, my kids managed to get basically 70 candles on the cake, and it wasn't a big cake. As they were bringing it to me I thought some of the candles would surely go out, but when they handed it to me I realized that there was no way they were going out. The heat was intense!

Today on the other hand, we decided to give Sanford a little TLC. and got some surprises.
First off, yank off the old 70's cap, rotor, and wires that someone cobbled onto the truck. New cap, rotor, and spacer fit well.
I went to screw in plugs, and first things first, the jack handle holders were poking me. they had to go.
I started unscrewing plugs.... that doesnt look right....
i scraped the grease off the heads, found the casting numbers...
D2VE-AA
thats a 1972 head, right??? like maybe a 429 head??
Got my plug wires ready to swing on. im loving the quality of these wires, they are 9mm, and are so much better than parts store stuffs.
so i left the old plugs in it, did a bit of tuning on the Edelbrock, and got it buttoned up for today. time to research what ive got in this old truck.
Finally, we picked up a toolbox at a garage sale for $20. it's a delta, its not all dinged up or rusted out, the last guy spray painted it a coat of white... perfect for this truck.
Now we're gassed up, packed up, ready for the next adventure!

Really, what is more American than a red, white, and blue truck with a big block doing burnouts??
Yeah, i still havent gotten under the truck to check the block numbers. 429 or 460, doesnt really matter. the truck runs strong, and it makes me smile. I may have used the secondaries on the carb today on the drive home for "stress relief"
