Driver side door, bout three inches below the bolt the striker plate catches. The same numbers may also be found on the frame, passenger side, somewhere between the firewall and front of the vehicle (I have not gone there though...).

When you post the VIN, be sure to include all the other details on the data plate. They tell you about the color, trim code, transmission, etc.
Assuming, of course, neither the door nor the tag have been changed out in 35 years.
