Encountered on the way to the car show sat. morn . By the looks of entry into 4 x 4 post ( no skid marks ) I would say the car was traveling beyond speed limit on an in town city street ( fri. night ) & the car got away from him . That will buff right out . Alcohol may have been involved .Pretty much dead center .

The most desirable of the Healeys, a real shame. The front ends on those are aluminum, the body will be able to be fixed easily enough. The frames are tissue paper, tho. Looks like a fair amount of bondo on there. I wouldn't be surprised if his brakes let go.

The fenders from the center bead out are actually steel. Aluminum from the bead in along with the the hood. Beautiful machine to do that too. What a shame

Yep, you're right! The perfect galvanic corrosion setup, LOL.

This is me with my roommate's Healey in '73. It broke down later in Bloomington IL when he was visiting his brother at ISU, I towed it back to Champaign with my '53 F-100. He sold it (after fixed) for $2500, nowdays a Healey in that condition is easily worth $60k...

Not a pretty sight. I have always had an affection for the 3000.

Ross you had dark hair! I had a 60 Healy at ISU from 70 to 73 but had a Ford 289 in it as the original dropped a valve and destroyed the engine. I loved that car and would still have it today if the insurance co didn't find out about the 400+ horses under the hood and raised my rate thru the roof.

I am sure the owner is devastated, I had a 63 AH 3000 BJ6 some years ago and I know how much time and effort has to go into one to make it as nice as this one appears to be. Whatever the driver did I am sure they will not do it again anytime soon.

I had a neighbor when I lived in Virginia that had a dark green '66 3000. She was 5' tall and skinny as a rail. She had the seat moved all the way forward with a block of 4x4 under the seat pivot so the seat back leaned forward and then she had someone mount blocks of wood on the pedals. Still she really loved that car.

With that jacket and the fall foliage and of course the car it looks like a scene from some 70's movie from a Northeastern college or prep school!

Love it!
