AC injectors

I accidentally made this post in the wrong section of this website (engine building section) and got some answers that didn't make sense. I have heard that AC injectors for a Powerstroke will add 40+ HP to a powerstroke truck engine. I believe these come out of busses and industrial vehicles . Can anyone confirm? Also does anyone know anyboy who has ran these in their truck?

Welcome to the dark side. First off throw out HP numbers in relation to Injectors(no Cummings here) . Cc of fuel/nozzle is more descriptive. I believe ac inj are 120cc . these originally came with 90cc injectors. Those if in good condition are a good upgrade if used with proper custom tunes to make them work correctly.

By adding just injectors on stock running you won't net you squat, what does is tunes, and by tunes I mean custom not of the shelf stuff, live tuning would be better.

They are 160cc. I am planning to get a hydra chip for my truck to accommodate.

Will that result in torque/speed gains?

You won't notice a big difference in power but custom tunes will smoke a lot less and be smoother. The canned tunes for the stock 90cc injectors have a long pulse width which will give you lots of power with the 160cc but lots of smoke and high EGTs.

You will notice a huge difference going from stock 90cc to 160cc AC Code injectors with proper tuning. AC Codes with proper tuning and supporting mods should net you 325 to 350hp and 700+ lb ft of torque.

I looked a little deeper into the injectors and they came in the T444E International engines which are essentially the same as 7.3 Powerstrokes, just small differences such as different intercooler set ups.

Supporting mods are a very, very slippery slope.

If you have a K&N, you might want to look into getting a Napa 6637 type filter. It is a filter with a much smaller filter rating but flows just as well as the K&N. If you live in a dusty area, this is a very necessary change to avoid dusting your turbo wheel.

Also, if you have an auto trans, you might want to look into getting a HD rebuild or at least a very quality torque converter. Manual, you might look into a Single Mass Flywheel (SMF) and clutch package.

Intercoolers are also a great upgrade, especially if you have larger injectors and a smaller turbo.

Other than that, studs and springs aren't really necessary until you are pushing 40lbs of boost. I was only able to get about 32 lbs out of a stock turbo and stage 1s, which is about average from what I have been reading.

Just my two cents... Others might have a different opinion, but that is the beauty of it. You can make whatever you want out of your rig based on need, want, and budget.
