Can you twist it 1/8th of a turn tighter? I know it looks like oil is coming through the filter seam but it also looks like it's coming over the top and into the seam.
Nope I tried, maybe the dealer over tightend it, Ill take it in tomorrow, should be a quick fix, but of course I have oil all over the bottom of the truck.
I just changed the oil in my truck a couple days ago and used a motorcraft filter, after removing the old filter the gasket stuck to the filter housing .. it would be easily overlooked and something worth checking
Reminds me of when my father left the O ring from the previous filter stuck on the truck and screwed a new filter on. As my parents were driving to church he noticed the trail of oil in the rear view mirror so he stopped in time, called a wrecker and had it towed home, The wreck let him ride with him, but my mother got a ride in a sheriffs car that had stopped to help. They grabbed their other vehicle and and went on to church, when someone made a comment about them being late, My dad replied he had to wait and let my mother out of the back of the sheriffs car.
Here's mine from the first oil change. It was leaking on the ground. I blamed it on the dealer not tightening...but upon me checking it, it was pretty tight. I cleaned the filter up and snugged a hair more...hasn't leaked since.
Going to dealer today, I want them to see it so if it is just tighten it a bit more they know, and I want them to clean the truck up, I have oil all over the bottom and the front wheel wells.
