I have heard that AC injectors for a Powerstroke will add 40+ HP to a powerstroke truck engine. I believe these come out of busses and industrial vehicles. Can anyone confirm? Also does anyone know anyboy who has ran these in their truck?
I don't have specific knowledge of diesel engines, but in general, in order to get more power, you need to increase air flow first, then increase fuel delivery to match. So if you just got bigger injectors without doing something to get more air flow, you probably won't see much power increase, but get more smoke instead.
A performance exhaust is always a good modification. But the cold air intake is not going to provide much more air intake over stock; it's something easily compensated by the stock injectors. I was thinking more significant air flow, like if possible, reducing flow of the turbo waste gate or bypass, if you have those, or a bigger turbocharger if the stock version can't deliver the needed air. Modifications like those are what will require significantly more fuel, which indicate bigger injectors.
I think Gale Banks used to sell mild turbo kits that significantly increased power without having to upgrade the injectors.
What modifications were done by the folks who have used these AC injectors and claimed to have gotten big power gains?
