Question 460 Question

I have short bed 68' with what I believe is a 360. ( was listed as a 390 when sold to us, but it only has a C4 tranny and doesnt have a 9" rear end ) I am thinking about dropping in a pumped up 460. I have knowticed a few other people have down this and I was curious, how it went and if there were any major complications or serious modifications to be done? I expect stiffer spring, new tranny and 9" rear end, but other than that, am I missing something? (Boy, I sound lost..)

Don't think you'll need stiffer springs in the front. If the truck came out with an FE, those are heavy engines. You will need a new tranny, C6's are fine. If you are looking for and OD unit then E4OD is good or an AOD from Lentech or Art Carr is probably better. A 9" rear is almost a must. You'll also need new engine stands and motor mounts. You may also need a new, big radiator. These hopped up big blocks generate a lot of heat.

That will be a sweet conversion though. I guarantee you'll be glad you did it.

460 Question

ecarter.

Well I suppose it may not be the original tranny, cause that is what the shop said it was when I had it serviced, and thats what I told the rebuild shop after I exploded the tranny pump.. So I dont know.

Bigsnag..

I hope I am glad. I have the plans for the engine right in front of me as I also have the 9" all planned out too. BUt thanks for the tranny info.. I was just about to look around for that..
