So I was looking to enable manual regeneration on my truck and came across this in IDS the ability to change the time the truck auto shut off when idling. I changed mine to 5 minutes so I can use it like a turbo timer it gives you a warning before it shuts down also if it's in any gear it won't shut down. what you guys think? Useful?
No Shutdown is an option in settings on the dash.
It just has to be selected each time you want to leave it running.
I have used it when I want to keep the a/c on for my dog if I go in someplace quick.
I think it is called Auto off or something like that in settings.
You just have to uncheck it each time you want to leave it running.I'm not sure
I would want it to be switched off all the time even if it was an option.
I'm not used to the push button start/stop yet and have left it running more than once.
This is NOT a "cool down" feature at least for those of us that still need a key. Keyless I'm not sure. Think of it as an anti idle feature (probably best for fleet owners). Walk away with the key in the ignition, engine running, and in park the truck will shut off in the preset amount of time even if you lock the doors.

Even all of our tractors at work have the anti idle feature...mine shuts off after just a couple of minutes.

It's emissions related: an example is CARB has a 5 minute max idle time on most vehicles over 10k#. Most places are not that strict, but Ford built in various options to pass whatever state requirements are imposed on sale. https://cdllife.com/2014/idling-laws-state/
Anyone remember 49-state emissions and 50-state being an option on the window sticker?

I disabled the auto off feature in the dash as described above and during same running engine session I still got the same alert after how many ever minutes stock settings that engine would shut off. Honestly was disappointed it is even an option to select since it doesn't work anyways.
Curious if anyone has actually tested their trucks to see if disabling the auto off in the dash works?
Maybe I did something wrong?
