1992 E250 Battery drain

Hi Fellas,

I bought this E250 extended cab, or whatever the long van is called, a while back and drove it a bit borrowing batteries outta other vehicles when I did. Getting ready to fix it up in a serious way so robbed my battery from my 94 F150 to drive it around local as my regular for a while until I'm sure it's worth fixing up. I know it will need a tranny.

The battery has been draining down if I don't start it for a couple days. Disconnected the negative battery cable and put a current meter from the neg terminal to the cable effectively interupting the drain with the meter. It showed a current of 8 ma which slowly reduced down to 2.5 ma after about 5 minutes. I started pulling fuses to try to isolate the path of the drain. When I pulled the 60 amp fuse in the power distribution box that my chilton manual says goes to the ignition switch the drain went down to a steady 1.65 ma. This happened whether the drain was still at 8 ma or down to 2.5 ma or any time in between, whenever I interrupt the drain by pulling that fuse.

Like said, when i pull that fuse the drain is a steady 1.65 ma and stays at that level. Then I pulled the 30 amp fuse that chilton says goes to the switch side of the PCM power Relay and from there supplies power to thecoil side of the fuel pump relay. When I did that the battery drain went down to 0.

Got dark outside on me. Too big a van to get into my shop. Will continue tomorrow. Just thought I'd throw this out to you fellas to see if anyone has thoughts on this. The battery seemed to be ok in the pickup. Might see if someone will test it for me. 8 - 2.5 ma don't seem like a lot of current. I mean takes 1000 ma to make an amp. Should there be any drain on this at all?
