dead batteries?

So I park the truck on Friday, start it today and notice right away that the wipers are slow. My Edge monitor shows battery at around 10 volts. Ran the truck to town thinking it would charge but they didnt. truck started to not shift properly, gauges were on and off. Is it possible that batteries would just quit without warning? I have chargers on them now to see if they will take a charge but they don't appear to be charging 2014 superduty with 60000 kms

If they are original batteries they are probably due for a change. Question, was the voltage reading with the truck running or not, alternator should be putting out some 13.6-14.2 when running.

With that voltage shown I am surprised the truck started.

I started it with the remote and when the truck was running it showed that voltage of 10 I was watching the monitor and it went as high as 11 when driving but then went back to 10. the funny thing is there shouldnt have been any drain on the batteries while parked and like i said it didnt give any indication up to this point. will the batteries just quit like that? I am charging now but they dont seem to be taking a charge

In the desert heat of Las Vegas they do, one day they work, three years later they won't even unlock your doors with no warning. I am still thinking you should see higher voltage while running from the alternator though, but I am not positive.

Just replaced mine on my '13. They were 4yrs 2mos old. Parked it on a Friday, went out on Monday to start it and nada..

As for your voltage, if you are only seeing 10-11V while running, your alternator isn't working. Should have around 14.4V running.

I thought with the truck running it should show higher as well had them on a charger for a couple of hours now and they dont seem to be taking a charge, i had no idea they could just quit like that (if it is the batteries) thanks for the response

This sound like the alternator went to lunch.

Test the alternator.

Batteries will probably have to be replaced since they are down so low and the resistance to charge so high now.

Hi Senix
they are taking a charge now but when I start it up the voltage is only at 12 and slowly starts to drop. I think it is the alternator also but what is weird is that it was fine on friday so even if the alternator was frapped what would cause the batteries to go dead after sitting all weekend? I will change the batteries just to be safe as well as they are coming up to 4 years anyway, but it still doesnt make sense to me
