Thumbs up No Problem ........... :)

I was just talking today to the guy who I bought my truck from, and he said when he got the truck (about 1 1/2 yrs ago) that all he did was Plugs, Cap, Rotor but not the wires. He said they didn't look bad then. They are Motorcraft. They don't look bad now, or should I just bite the bullet and put new wires/plugs all the way around?

I think with our older/Classic trucks that we sometimes overlook their age and think they should perform like today's models. Well, at least I'm guilty of that, lol!

I'm going to go with new wires (probably MSD) and plugs for now. Will let you guys know how it goes. One thing I know is this truck is sensitive to the slightest change in anything. But esp driving, if that makes any sense.......

Please stop and view my Gallery; I don't think it counts as Views when it's ME checking.

(Next time I grab ahold of a camera, I'll take a shot w/o AF. )

1 one way to check for bad wires is to look at the distributor rotor, if it has a lot of black "soot", actually carbon, built up around the button in the center of the rotor that will tell you that a lot of the "spark" is not continuing through the wire to the plug and it is being returned to the distributor

the other way is to check the wire with an ohm meter

Ranger Woman,

MSD, ACCEL, MOROSO, so forth have a place in gist of things, BUT YOU NEED TO CONSIDER BASIC FACTS & REALITIES

High Performance plug wires may be better when new, but they also degrade faster w/ regular use than long life wires OEM & the Aftermarket Replacements do.

Hi Per wires are designed for MAX output 4 a season, or several 500 mile races & so forth. They're not designed to sit in traffic at lights, or spend hrs cruising highways, & other rigors of daily use, normal conditions, et al.

If you like changing Plug wires a few times a year, by all means go for the short lived, big buck, Hi Per sets. On other hand, if you like reliable, consistent, long lived, good, eficient, operation, go for wires that give you that kind of service & performance. FBp
