6-month reviews?

Guys, for those who were early adopters and have owned their trucks for 6 months or longer, let's start a thread to give a review of what we think now. It seemed people were giving a lot of reviews shortly after getting their trucks...all glowing with praise. Maybe after a half a year things are the same or have changed? I'll start with mine:

Took delivery October 4, 2016. Now has about 7700 miles. F-350 Crew Dually 4x4 6.7L Lariat Ultimate.

I like this truck still. It pulls strongly, and shifts very smoothly. While I commented on how heavy the steering was coming from a 2016, I really like the heavy feeling at this point. I prefer it to the lighter steering of the previous generation. The leather seats are not getting wrinkle-lines in them like the previous generation did...but some wear is becoming evident along the side edge where you tend to slide in and out of the truck. Nothing serious so far. Seats seem to have settled and become slightly more comfortable, although still not as good (in my opinion) as the previous-gen seats. Ride quality is nice except on potholed and frost-heaved roads. It has a nice heavy feeling. Recently had some seat time in a new Hyundai Sonata rental, followed by a trip home from the airport in our company-owned Subaru Outback. The Super Duty has a very nice heavy, quiet ride compared to those vehicles. The 4x4 system performed very well this past winter. I'm more impressed with the limited-slip rear differential than I thought I'd be. The LED headlights and taillights continue to work fantastically well and look great. BUT...driving home in a hard snowstorm resulted in the high beams and fog lamps becoming completely covered with snow and ice, as well as the C-Clamp day running lights. The normal low beams remained uncovered. I'm guessing Ford created some type of method to heat the lens area of the low-beam headlamps only (minimum requirement)...probably by ducting hot air from the LED heat sink to the front of the light). The taillamps seem unaffected by snow. Maybe because they are high enough off the ground.

The pano-moonroof remains trouble free and awesome. No leaks, despite being covered with more than a foot of snow several times, plus heavy rains and multiple carwashes (not automatic car washes though).

The nav system works great for me. Traffic has always worked. The new instrument cluster with the large gauges and center display is beautiful.

Disappointments: sure, the audio system sucks once you turn it up past 15 on bass-heavy tracks. Some rattles have formed in the truck. The fuel economy seems worse than it should be.

Overall, a tremendous truck.

Nice, glad to hear your winter report on the 4x4, a very important consideration of mine. I happened to select the e-locker but good to hear the LS is a good performer.

I received mine on Halloween, so only have it about 5.5 months, but have 22,000 miles on it so I can offer some higher mileage perspective. F250 XLT CC SB 6.7 with Fx4

Overall soundness: No issues with any developing squeaks, rattles, or noises as the miles add up. I travel some for work and have the pleasure or displeasure of renting and driving all kinds of vehicles. In nearly all cases, I can't wait to get back to my super duty for the better ride. The truck steering and handling remain firm and noise-free.

Overall ride quality: From day 1, the truck has had a solid, firm ride, but does ride like an HD truck in some regards. I installed Fox 2.0 all around at about 15k miles. Made a substantial difference on the minor bumps and potholes but no difference to me when hauling or towing.

Report on special options: E-locker is EXCELLENT in the mud (PA oil fields where I hunt). The "three-wheel drive" just provides so much traction. I have stuck past trucks there regularly, but not my 2017. Granted I didn't try hard to stick it, but the affect of the e-locker was impressive. My SD just crawled through every hole and rut. Adaptive steering is also excellent for low speed maneuvering on trails, parking, etc. I do not plow, but I bet the plow guys love it. 360 degree camera package is also AWESOME. Would enjoy a higher res system but for maneuvering and parking it is a huge help.

Opinion on amenities: Cab room is excellent. I have the moonroof and no issues with headroom (I'm 6'2"). My moonroof leaks ever so slightly in auto car wash when the seam is directly under high pressure. The moonroof is so nice and I highly recommend. I wish I would have gone carpet delete. I have cloth seats and they are holding up very well. I actually spilled half a bottle of Cabernet on the driver's seat (no I was not driving) and it cleaned up lickety-split with oxy-clean. My seats are caribou and I thought I was in real trouble but my wife came though. I have the Ford factory bedliner and it is holding out very well. It was slick at first but that went away in the first month or so. No sliding now. Sync 3 for me is great. I use Apple Maps with it and it works great. I have to do a soft reset a couple times per month but other than that it's a good system. I installed AMP powersteps. Changed our world. Wife is 4' 10" and actually enjoys getting into my truck for once!

Truck drive train performance: I do not tow heavy loads but do haul fairly heavy and have no issues. Engine power is more than needed. Mileage when empty is 15.5 to 16.5. When hauling a ton or ton and a quarter I get 15 to 15.5. In the last few thousand miles, I have noticed heavy shifting (up or down) at very low speeds (below 20 mph) but smooth as can be otherwise.

Gripes: I seem to remember something about the fuel tank reserve...

F350 White Gold Platinum 6.7L 23,000 kms on it so far.

Love the truck nice to drive, quiet inside, comfortable seats (for me) but......

- Radio unit replaced
- Leak in GPS antenna
- Rear door locks on both doors malfunctioned repaired twice
- Front drivers door would not latch twice repaired
- Tranny cooler recall
- Loud bang in rear end, could not replicate
- Fuel tank recall
- Loose drivers seat bottom, new parts installed fixed
- Leaking transmission from the rear seal, sprayed oil all over undercarriage onto rear diff
- Truck sits lower on rear drivers side by 1 1/2"
- Tailgate opens on its own while driving

And they keep coming, scared to drive it anymore. I am sure it is new model issues but I wish Ford would have done better testing so the testing is not done on the backs of the consumer.

I would still buy one of these trucks given the problems I have had. It is a beauty.

20,000 miles. Love everything about it other than the absolute crap fuel mileage. I get 14.5 freeway and ride with my brother in law in his duramax getting 21 mpg. Rediculous.

Got mine late September and I've had 0 issues... Well accept for an auto activating seat cooler, though I'm not sure if that's a problem yet or something I'm doing.

- I don't have any complaints about the seats, but I'm also fortunate not to have any back problems, so far at least...
- No leaks anywhere.
- I'm much happier with this transmission than I was with the 2012. Much smoother, the 2012 had split personalities, and the nice one didn't come around much. Actually the reason I sold it.
- 6.7 doesn't seem quite as quick as the 12, power takes longer to come in. I'm sure that's down to the torque management.
- I like the larger fuel tank
- LED's are just as bright as the HID's in the F-150, but I don't get flashed anymore on low beams like I did in the F-150
- Love the adaptive steering, I just wish it was a touch lighter and had better return to center performance.
- Very happy with ride quality, but still waiting on Bilstein 5100's to come out.
- Very quiet, almost too quiet
- 360 camera is nice, but not as useful as I thought it'd be.
- Like the adaptive cruise more than I thought I would.
- I love the smart fob system for unlocking/locking the doors, just grab the handle. But while the push to start button works fine, and I like not having to fumble for the keys, it's somehow less satisfying than a good ol' key. This is probably just a personality quirk of mine.
- My media door works without a hitch.
- No real major improvements in towing performance from the 12. The exhaust brake is nice to have... but it's pretty flat around here.
- Love the electric release tailgate, mainly so I don't have to lock/unlock it all the time

- Fuel mileage is down compared to the 12'... but on par with the 3.5 eco
- I've given up on the auto wipers and high beams, they just haven't quite got those worked out yet.
- Stereo sound quality is a massive disappointment to me.
- I miss the speed dial menu from Sync 2
- I really miss the gallons used on the trip display.
- I miss auto 4x4, only ever had it in the one truck, but it was nice.
- There is this weird leftover speck of metal on the passenger door under the lip of the weatherstripping that prevents it from laying flat.

That's all I got for now, overall very happy with the truck. Happier when I get around to addressing the stereo.

Took delivery of a 2017 F350 CCLB 4X4 Lariat ULT. on November 24, 2016. Have just over 5100 miles and no issues. Truck rides great and tows fantastic. Unloaded Fuel economy on the Freeway doing 60mph is 22mpg. 14mpg in the city. Pulling a 10,000LB Travel Trailer and a Polaris RZR loaded in the bed Mileage was 11.5. Much better than my 99 7.3 F350 in every way. Love the moon roof and the towing mirrors. The led lights make my eyes feel and seem 10 years younger, auto head light dimmer is awesome, seats are very comfortable, NAV and sound system is of higher quality than I am use to. The factory weather mats are much better than what I expected.
The cabin was very easy to get use to and comfortable and extremely quiet. Love and use the Man step and cargo lights often. The 48 gallon fuel tank speaks for it self. The 6.7 and Trans work very well together, and never seem to struggle. Towed 14,000LB dump trailer with very little effort. Auto exhaust brake and tow/haul mode worked like a dream in the Oregon Mountains. This Truck was built to tow and I smile every time I tow.

Thanks! It is a bummer kind of taking the excitement out of the new ownership experience. It's almost like I don't know what is going to happen next. All good though, no lemon laws in Canada so I will keep bringing it back. Lol

I love my truck and haven't had any issue's at all..
This morning I pulled 5yrd's (15,00lbs) of mason sand up 5% grade and around a jobsite with no problem at all. Meant to take a picture of the load but forgot, not sure of the tongue weight but it was heavy!
All the guys on the jobsite was in awe that it jerked 15k around as easy as it did.

Melansk post a pic up of your truck as I don't think I've seen one...

Looks great Melansk, white gold was on my list but unlike you my trailer is white so I went with the white platinum.

F450 Platinum Ultimate in Platinum White delivered in early November, 2016 after a 6 month wait and just turned 10,000 miles today. Absolutely no problems. Best truck I have owned to date. Drives like a dream over long distances and used as a daily driver as well. Pulls like a beast. No squatting with heavy loads. Love the maneuverability of the wide front axle. Interior amenities impressive. My wife drives a 2017 Audi Q7 premium plus (their largest and most advanced technologically- SUV) and I have owned quite a number of Audis over the last 30 years and I will now state that I much prefer to drive my F450 over my current and previous Audis(never thought I would say that since I have loved my Audis over the years). In fact we have our 40th anniversary trip planned at a very nice Triple Creek Ranch resort in western Montana this summer and I hate the flying hassles so we are going to drive. It is nearly a 3,000 mile round trip and I have decided to take the F450 instead of the Q7 despite 14 mpg(at best) vs 25 mpg because I like the F450 that much better with more comfortable seats, head room, leg room, body room etc etc. and I like the way it drives better than the Audi. With the retrax and bedliner and gator back flaps it is a great looking truck and a joy to drive. No regrets whatsoever spending this much for a "truck".

Took delivery mid October and had the first oil change pop up at 5900, now closing in on 10k service. Only problems with the truck were the transmission lines recal that weren't leaking when checked and one of the tailgate bumper stops fell off that the dealer replaced in about 10 mins one day I stopped by. Other than those two minor issues the truck has been fabulous, plenty of power and comfortable ride. Towing my tractor and 25' GN mileage rides in the high 16s low 17s just tooling around to town and back usually see high 19s. Overall great truck and barely miss my old 7.3 anymore.

Do you mind posting any pics? That's the same spec im looking at. Good to hear your thoughts on it.
