Stanadyne Performance Formula Purchase

This topic has nothing specific in relation to the 6.7L PSD other than yesterday I went to Tractor Supply to purchase diesel cetane and lubricity additive for my truck.

While at the register, after scanning the first bottle, the guy asked me what my birthday was. I started to answer, and then my brain fully processed the question. I stopped before I vocalized any response and looked directly at him and asked why on earth he needed that information to purchase diesel additive. He responded that it was their policy and pointed at the computer screen. In fact, there was a prompt prohibiting the sale until a date was entered. I was in a hurry so I never asked what the age limit was. I never got an answer as to why that would be required. So would anyone like to hazard a guess?

Could be they use that to verify your identity if your using a credit card.

I've gotten to the point to of giving a generic birthdate, same month and year, but different day just in case it might be some method of getting my identity. Haven't had any issues doing this, yet.

Our wonderful youth like to huff toxic chemicals to get high. Anything from electronics air in a can to spray paint to whatever. Its sad, but this is the reason. In most states, you have to 18 or over to buy products that can used to get high or to make drugs. I had to show my driver license number to buy lithium batteries a few weeks ago, apparently one of the ingredients is used to make an illegal drug, my guess was meth.

That was my guess, I hoped that was not the case.
