7.3 idi rebuild biodiesel in mind

Hello fellow Ford members,

Well I get to it I have 2 fors both idi, one is a 94 7.3 idi turbo and the other a 92 7.3 with a banks system, first lets talk about the 94 7.3 turbo. I equipped it with manual glow plug system and duralift carrier pump. I drove this bad boy for 2 years with some basic issues, air intrusion etc. until recently where I been having a hard time starting up. of course with a little bit of ether or starter fulid it fires right up and after the first fire up I have no issues all day but its the first start up I'm tired of.
this truck has 250k and I believe the previous owner ran it with bio diesel or straight vegie. don't have specific but since I bought the thruck I have bought new injectors from R&D stage 1. and have replaced the ip pump and removed the lift pump with a carried duralift. and then it had no problems form a few months then it returned, hard starts that is, I then changed my glow plug system to a manual system and that temporarlily fix the problem for a few moths till now where it wont start with out ether or starting fluid.

Now I am keeping this truck, I love it. But here where it because the problem.

around the same time I got interested in alternative fuel and eventually starting tinkering with biodiesl. I since bought and made a system and have a bunch of used oil in the back of my yard. I have 120g system with full wet wash system and a separate tank I store the finished product. I have made 1 sucefful batch and stop since the truck gives me such problems.

my goal is to be able to drive my truck with no issues, I understand the impact biodiesel or full wvo does to our trucks but I wanted to get some info on the specialist what to do moving forward. I'm this close to pulling the motor and rebuilding the thing but want some advice on what to keep in mind when rebuilding this motor and what to do keeping in mind I will be running 100% biodiesel or even WVO.

Shoud I even pull the motor?
what should I try next?

well that where I'm at with that truck, ill add that I don't need these trucks to run right away. I have alternative transportation. I would just like to build this truck proper, last me a long time, satisfy my alternative fuel curiosty and be very reliable.

second truck, is a 92 f250 with a 7.3 id with banks turbo system. both it for cheap with the idea that it would be donor truck for what ever I needed. turns out i liked it to much and now want to build it also.
this truck is just for fun and to add that i only got it for cheap. its a 2 door manual 4x4 and motor with bad head gasket. i bought a replacement motor 6.9 idi. plan on to replacing it with this motor and putting all the other stuff on it turbo etc.
but since I'm not sure this motor runs properly I'm at a dead stop. i starting pulling everthing off the 6.9 Was in the midst of degreasing the motor was goig to pain it and head stud it with arp head studs till i came to my senses why not just through it in there like that and find out how it runs then pull it out and do the work.

on the 92 i pulled the motor out already, ill add that i have the tools and know how to rebuild the motor and proper outlets to help do the work just need some direction before i decide, to keep idi or go cummins.

I wouldn't even entertain running BioD in my IDI or TDI. The stuff eventually gums up your IP, injectors, and causes other downstream problems. However, if you have a two-tank WVO system, then you can properly purge the VO out of your system when you are ready to shutdown the engine. That can preserve the lifespan of your fuel system and engine.
