What size Alternator?
Hi, I need some advice on an alternator.
I have a friend who does Auto electrical work. He can give me a good deal on a bigger alternator.
Right now my 1994 F-150 302 5.0L has 95amp alternator.
1. how much bigger should I go? We were thinking 130amp
I am thinking of putting in he following additional items.
electric fans
MSD ignition
MSD fuel booster
MSD timing booster
Some more lights
UnderDrive Pulleys. Water pump and crank
2. What kind of pulley should I install on the new alternator?
regards,

If you are going with:
<<<<electric fans
MSD ignition
MSD fuel booster
MSD timing booster
Some more lights
UnderDrive Pulleys>>>>
Go with a 200A and don't look back. I have ASP 3 piece pulley set on my F-150 and a 130A alternator and still suffer a slight idle undercharge with the overdrive alternator puley. My next setup is a set of electric fans and those will not happen until I get a 200A alternator. I have a MSD 6AL, TFI Blaster Coil also, with an amplifier powering my front speakers.
The pulley on the new alternator, go with a 1.75" diameter. It is the smallest I have seen and will make the most charge at idle.
What is the MSD Fuel Booster and Timing Booster? I have seen pretty much everything automotive and these are new to me...

Oh yeah, I buy my alternators from alterstart(No Email Addresses In Posts!) and performance parts from steve@sandsperformance.com

The MSD booster are on MSD website. All I know is what I have read on their website.

And when upgrading the alternator be sure to upgrade the wiring to the solenoid. I used 4awg from the alternator to my fuse block then 4awg from my fuse block to my solenoid.
The wire is just copper wound battery cable and the fuse block is a Hi-Amp holder for car audio. I have had it setup like this for over a year now. Check my "User Gallery" for pics of where my MSD 6AL box is mounted my fuse holder is right beside it.
Boost Timing Master for MSD Ignitions...unless you are supercharged or turbo charged you don't need this. Just set your base BTDC timing around 10-14* and use the proper octane count for the timing level. I see no reason to play with timing under normal driving.
Fuel Pump Booster...this looks like a Band-Aid fix for running too small of a fuel pump on Forced Induction applications. More stuff you don't need, 255lph intank pumps flow enough to support around 500rwhp.
A MSD 6 series ignition, MSD TFI Coil, and a Holley TFI Module would be an excellent ignition system. I also run FMS wires and NGK plugs with a Borg-Warner Cap with Rotor.
