I just bought a 2001 F150 with the 4.2 and automatic. It is really pretty peppy for a v6. Anyway, I have always had a v8 with a flowmaster, and I am thinking about the same setup for the v6.
Can the same throaty sound come from a v6 as from a v8, or might it sound like an old tractor with a bad muffler??? Thanks in advance.
I have a flowmaster 40 series on my 6 and my friend has one on his small 8. Sounds good on his and I have way to much back pressure at hight rpm's,would never recommend flowmaster find something better.
Doczog,
I'm going to move your question to the Exhaust forum. Probably get more feedback there.
I have a single in - dual out MelloTone muffler. It sounds better than I'd have expected. Not like a V8 of course. But not like those can-full-of-bees exhaust you see on "ricer" type cars.
Can't say anything about the Flowmaster. I have no first hand experience.
I have a Gibson Super Truck exhuast on mine and it sounds great. This is the one that exits out the passenger side right before the rear wheel. My uncle has a flowmaster on his 4.2 and I dont think it sounds as nice as mine.
