I am almost at 1000 miles on my new F350 and will be hooking up my 34' Sunnybrook trailer for our first trip. Would appreciate any tips that could help with the set-up.
What should I set the initial gain setting at? I put new brakes on last year so they are in good shape.
I assume the Blind Spot will not work with my 34' length and I need to turn it off?
When I setting up the towing info does the truck need to be running?
I've set my 5th wheel 35 foot up as a conventual trailer so that the BLIS would work. The best I can tell it is pretty close to spot on. However I would never trust it 100% even if it was anot a 5th wheel. Set you trail brake gain at 6 and test using the slider test switch on the gain. If it locks the breaks lower the number. Adjust until you find the right number. I have mine set at 7.
Is there any possible negative, other than false alarms wirh rhe BLIS, due to it catching the front of the 5th wheel, by telling it that it's a conventional trailer? Also, my numbers may be off, because I am going off a little alcohol fueled memory, but isn't BLIS limited to 33'? What do you do with you 35' 5th wheel tell the truck it is 33 to keep BLIS on, or does the length not turn the VLIS off? I too have a 35' ( well 34' 9", but what's a few inches right?) 5th wheel and want the BLIS to work when I'm in traffic.

I'm no expert on this at all. My take on this is that you should never trust it as being correct even without a trailer. I use it only as an aid and still look every single time I change lanes. I suggest if you are configure something incorrectly then you should never trust it to be correct.
You will have a setting for size of trailer. Lite, Medium and Heavy. I would select MEDIUM and then play with the gain. If you go to 10 and it's not enough to select Heavy then do the grain again until you find what you need.
