Long story short, I didn't label which axle shaft came from which side on my '99 250sd. One shaft is longer than the other and I don't know which side it goes to.
I saw your post yesterday, but my only suggestion would have been to stab them axles back in and see which one sticks out....
I guess you figured that out yourself.
There are a lot of questions that end up like this. (look at the FE forum, some guy goofed up his block--no answers for a fix) It's just because no one has the answer, or doesn't want to give a wrong answer, or doesn't want to give an answer that might seem rude etc. ("RTFM", "Here, let me Google that for you" etc are answers like that)
Anyway, best I can do. Many people get great answers here. Some go on and on though, and this might could be one of them.
But I would have measured the the outside from the pumpkin to the flange and put the longer axle inside the longer axle tube .... But maybe I'm over thinking it ....
