Gonna stir the pot...... Ordered a new KR 350 DRW, and i am curious as to why there should be any mods at all done........400+HP and 900+TQ should be enough to do anything???? i would think........maybe there are some mods out there that improve maintenance or longevity i can see those but for power and torque not sure why.......no need to blast me i just want to here peoples reasons why......also what is break in on the new motor.....i have read that people change the oil at 50 miles just to get the build **** out ??????

Thanks in advance

The most perplexing mod to me is the "Leveling Kit."
I'm just too old I guess.
Oh yea, I really like clean air as well.

Just to add a bit about the clean air... A week after picking up my truck, I spent a week in China watching the diesels belching out black smoke and breathing all of the pollution. Makes a person thankful that our diesels don't emit like those do. No deletes in my future!!

The way the new trucks are, I do not see the need. I have been guilty of this in the past for sure. I was in the auto repair industry for 20+ years. Heck I put a paxton supercharger on my 2001 V10 soon after I bought it (new). I can not say it was trouble free. Same with my bronco. Stock it was nice and reliable. But I had a wish list of engine mods. Thousands of dollars later its nice, cool but not as reliable.
So as of late, I buy what I want with the power and such out of the box and just enjoy it. I do understand why people do it, but my experience now says, buy the best and leave it alone.
And I am not some old fuddy duddy. When I bought my 2012 Shelby GT500. It is stock and I track it!

I'd also like to grasp the concept of "leveling". Other than being able to see over the Prius in front of you, what is the purpose? It would appear to decrease every aspect of the trucks performance so what is gained? If anything, I'd rather lower the truck which would be helpful.

Buying a $75,000 truck doesn't make a whole lot of sense either in reality. Different strokes.

Many people do not like the factory rake so they fix it. It's an aesthetics thing. It has nothing to do with performance. I hate the factory rake. It looks like you are always driving down hill.

I did not delete my truck for the extra power. It left me in limp mode or disabled on the side of the road one to many times. I leave my tuner in tow mode. I have no need for the extra power just want the reliability of not needing the emissions stuff. I didn't mind having the exhaust stuff on there and it certainly smelled better but just kept giving me issues. Not sure if I had a bad system or if my driving habits caused it to have problems but it sure left a sour taste in my mind about diesels. My truck is a 2012 though and I am curious if the newer emissions systems have been improved.

Rule 1 on all vehicle forums: If you don't understand why someone is doing a mod it's OK. Not all mods are for everyone.

Keep in mind that the option list on these trucks is lengthy. The color combinations and wheel choices are long too. Those permutations mean that most trucks won't be the same and that's another reason why people mod their vehicles.

Most people who mod know what they want. And many just want to make their vehicle "theirs."

I agree, I don't mind an 1" of rake but when trucks have 3-4" of rake they look odd to me. I don't tow extremely heavy so I will be adding some level to mine when it gets here. I would rather it look level daily and a little low in the back when I do tow. When i start hauling more when I retire in 5 years I can always remove the level.

My current truck is lifted, and part to the lift is leveling the truck, which looked good when not trailering anything. The only problem is that I had to buy airbags to compensate for the rear sag with a load on it so instead of my truck running nose high it was level again, the new truck will remain stock as far as suspension goes, but new tires are the first "Mod" on my list. If I want my new truck level I will hook it up to a trailer, lol.

My truck is on the right, my buddy owns the truck on the left. Take a guess who gets all the attention. When we go somewhere together I might as well have pulled up in a 1992 toyota corolla. It just goes to show that the majority of people like the look of a bigger, beefier truck. Now he obviously has more than just a simple level but the same would be true with a leveling kit and 35s or 37s under the truck. I do think there is a generational gap (obviously a generalization and not a universal truth) between people who like the look of a bigger truck and those who don't.
