Mine almost sounds like it is coming from the headliner..... Anyone else?
yes, i took the headliner down in that area, thought it was from the magnets that hold it up, it wasn’t. it may be from the headliner rear window junction. there is a distinct noise there when i tap on it. as i tap more towards the center of the truck along that junction, the liner becomes more solid
almost sounds like the door is creaking. i am going to try and tighten up the door again today.
i have checked the rear seat, good and latched.
all panels around the are seem secure.
I need to sit in the rear seat and have my wife drive me around until i can pinpoint the location
As a soon-to-be-buyer it sucks to hear about the rattles. My 99 F250 is rock solid unless I hit something hard like a deep pot hole. I had an 04 Sport Trac for a few years and it was a barrel of rattles on any kind of road. Turned me off of Fords for a long time. I have my fingers crossed that the build quality of the new F series is better than those cheap Explorer trucks. I can handle one or two rattles but not a rattle bucket.

Its not that bad. Right now my truck only has a couple of rattles and they are fairly muted. I have the stiffest suspension available on any Super Duty pickup and the longest wheelbase to leverage the truck...it seems inevitable rattles will develop. Ford had been mounting plastic parts on rubber inserts to reduce rattles. One positive note is that my dad's 2016 F-150 (driving the same roads as me) has zero rattles and it is well over a year old with twice the miles of my truck. Softer suspension, I guess, given the cabs and interior are the same.
I had the same rattle immediately after delivery and it bugged me for two weeks. Finally started looking for it and it was the back seat. On the passenger side it wasn't latched. Just pulled it forward and slammed it back and it latched. Rattle gone.
Thanks for the post. Rattle was driving me crazy.
Slammed mine back. Problem solved. Glad I saw this thread.
It's a stiffly sprung pickup truck. Get used to it. By 100k miles you'll have more rattles than you know what to do with. My dually now has 8k miles on it and has plenty of small rattles. Unless you drive nothing but smooth roads, rattles are inevitable.
Why do the new series of trucks 2015 F150 & up and 2017 Super Duties have so many rattles? Is it design materials or construction?
I have that rattle coming from the passenger rear area. I thought it was headliner. I thought it was seat. With my son riding back there, I had him push on the door panel in the area of the locking tab, and the rattle stopped. I've been able to bang on the door panel with the palm of my hand, and it seems to resolve for a short time. The funny thing is that it sometimes is there, other times is not, yet the panel seems firm.
My thought is that it's a wire/connector under the door panel that sometimes gets in a position to rattle against the panel or door structure. I haven't gone through the effort to remove the panel to check, and not sure if I will.

Nathan,
sounds like my situation
when u say locking tab, do you just mean the lock button or the lock that sticks up through the panel?
i'll have to check hat area.
i think the only way i might be able to find it is to have my wife drive around while i sit back there
2018 f350, my first Ford I like the truck but the rattles are driving me crazy, the rear seat is latched but it rattles so loud on these winter roads.... I’ve pushed on all the panels and headliner and everything you touch makes noise or is set up to rattle. I’ve never had a truck with so many stupid noises. My dodge and chev with 200K didn’t make as much noise. Come on ford what a let down.
My "strange" noises ended up being the right side runnng board brackets were loose. They made noises that mimic almost everything cited here. Drove me crazy.

I had that one too, luckily it is easily fixed lol.
