I think i found a solution! I have spent the last couple months searching the net for aftermarket ac parts and home ac units i might be able to rig up. Today i came across this website HOT ROD SERIES ? Cruise N Comfort They make add on ac units for hotrods, big rigs, boats and other vehicles. it is a stand alone 12v ac system that only pulls 38-46 amps rated at 5000-8000 btu's. Their system is pretty pricey. However, I did find a few other companies that had similar products for under $1000. I did not have the time to really look at all the parts for the other systems. I am hoping they do not require a compressor that is run off the belt. I am thinking i might be able to connect the blower right into the existing vent system. I might pull some of my dash panels off and see if i have room for the blower system somewhere. it would be nice if i can hide it under the dash, run some tubing to the existing vents, and make a nice dash control panel for the switches. even if there is not room under the dash i am sure i can figure out a way to make it look nice.
I have had to put similar kits in late body chassis when ordered incorrectly. Most competent mechanics with an AC machine can do it. A good DIYer could easily do it as well then bring it to an AC shop for charging.
