ok its easier to to get 351C pistons and bush the rods. my resons are this, more piston designs that the 400. easier to get, and might be cheaper.

the 400 flat tops are had to find, might still be out of production. you can not get forged pistons made for the 400.

After just going through this search for 400 pistons, I concur with GT40man. Bushing the rods and 351C pistons gives you many more options.

so i could bore the block and still use 351c pistons and have a better time finding pistons for it correct? and what makes a forged piston better?

the 351C and 351m/400 all have same bore. its just that the 351C and 400 have the same compression height. the only difference is the pin diameter. so yes you can bore the block and still use the 351C pistons, provided you get them to fit the bore, ie. .020 over or whetever you do.

if you are going to run a high cr, N2O, or stress the motor a lot, forged is more durable and needed.

if you are not gonna do any of these, then its not worth the added money.
