I wanted to ask if anyone knows what glove box was used with a dealer installed AC truck? Was it a non AC box or was it an AC box? My cardboard one is falling apart and I bought a plastic one that I think was for non AC but its way too long. Thought of cutting the box up along the raised ridge which I thought and still do think is the line for where AC (or non AC not sure which is which anymore) would end.
I'm asking. I am seriously contemplating cutting the glovebox I have the solid plastic one and try to make it work for my truck but if I can find one to buy I rather just buy and let someone have this one unmolested.
Plus I don't even know if that raised mold line is a cut line. All I know is this glove box is way too deep for my truck and wont fit without hitting my behind the dash dealer AC unit.
But that doesnt help me as ebay doesnt have any listed for me to see if I could just simply cut the plastic liner I have and reuse some of the plastic to plate the back of the box back in.
Well I actually found the plastic '85 and up one online it looks like the cardboard one in mine and this plastic one is with AC, thing is though they want $150 for it. I wonder if I could get them to possibly do a out right trade. I give them my NOS plastic glovebox without AC for one of their plastic glove boxes with AC
I was searching on ask.com but wasn't turning anything up it was yahoo that got me this hit.
Thing is I will have to message Dennis-Carpenter and see if they will take this on trade. I highly doubt it but doesnt hurt to ask. Just cant justify spending $150 for a glovebox even if its plastic.
I don't think I need measurements. The more I think about it right now the more I think that line would be a AC equipped line. I don't think I will cut the box how ever. I think I will just wait till I have some spare spending cash and just buy the right one from Dennis Carpenter. I really want to get away from cardboard as mine the stuff inside my glovebox just seems to be wet. There are no leaks only thing I can think of is the dealer AC unit might be dripping some water onto my cardboard glovebox which then soaks it up.
Will do. I also will decide what I will do with the box I currently have. Might make someone a deal on here looking for one. Just wished I could have used this one.
Oh I know the cardboard ones are still available. Problem is mine would be fine but mine is damaged from water. I think my dealer AC unit is dripping condensation on the box which resulted in it soaking up the water and getting the glovebox contents wet. Not sure if I could use strip caulk to seal but I think I much rather have a newer '85-'86 plastic glove box.
I have one already but its for a non air truck. Thought mine being dealer AC it would be the same but its not mine still uses the AC style box. Looking at the plastic reproductions I found for factory AC they are what I need but quite pricy. I thought of modifying the one I have cutting it along the raised bump to make it AC equipped sized but not sure how I could block off the back end unless I get some modelers bulk plastic styrene and glue it to the box and paint.
If I am going to go to that trouble I rather just spend the $150 and buy the new and be done.
