Ford 292 Piston Diameter
Have piston with no markings on the top.
Need to confirm that it's standard size piston.
What is the diameter of a standard piston?
Bore is 3.750". That's spec bore. Have not measured bores yet.

Skirt should be about .005 under bore this will vary a bit with wear in the cylinder.

Thanks!
Looked on Ebay.
Nice Starrett micrometers are going begging.
Make's you wonder what kind of engine's are being put
together these days.
Don't get me started!

You don't need an expensive micrometer for most engine work. Make sure it measures in .0001" increments and it will be fine. Cheaper ones often times only do .0005" or even .001"
If you want a low cost, recognizable name brand, Fowler is a good option.

1/10 of a thousand on gauge. Got it.
Fowler. Got that.
Answer something for me.
My Borg Warner auto trans has a bellhousing with a little screen
on top. About 4x5" square. F100 pickup truck.
Was that a '62-64 only type?
Never seen another like it.

I don't know. I think I've seen something like that for automatic transmissions.

Yep. It is an automatic.
Early one made by Borg Warner.
Just wanted to sidestep Cruisomatic or Fordomatic discussion.
Sorry. Thought you were Charley Trans.
I guess he's had enough transmissions. Probably retired.
Notice on his website he will not work on sent trannies.
Pretty sure why not.
You've seen some. Okay. Good enough!
