They did, in 1975/79 (except CA in 1979), but not after 1979.
What people have forgotten or are unaware of is...large engines like the 351M/400/460 became economically undesirable in the 1970's due to the two Arab Oil Embargos (1973/74 & 1979) and the Jimmy Carter Recession.
Sales of large cars and trucks dropped off radically, 460 not available in cars after 1978, was dropped from 1980/82 F250/350's, only available in E250/350's.
He doesn't know anything. He said he glanced at the truck once. He is thinking he wants to buy it because it's cheap, but he doesn't know how much of a project he is getting into.
If you are not very mechanically inclined or know nothing about vehicles, a truck that has been seriously messed with like this one can be a very difficult school of hard knocks. I envision a lot of butt spliced wiring and a general mess. Be prepared for the worst if you buy it, I think the power steering bracket is going to be the least of your worries.
i actually know a lot about cars, i've rebuilt several 350 chevys, built 1 383 chevy, and 3 or 4 ford FEs, just never fiddled with the 80's trucks or the 385s or the 335s. as to me not knowing what i'm getting into you are correct, we plan on giving the truck a few more glances before making a decision. the plan is kinda a long term project so...
When you go to see the truck take note of if they actually have the correct frame perches, which will be stamped 460 and have two holes for stock 460 engine mounts.
If the PO went so far as to swap over the perches I'd imagine the rest of the job is well done too.

OP says the truck has a swapped in 351M/400. These perches are not the same as a 460 (that according to the OP, the truck originally came with).
The next question, what did the 351M/400 come from?
Anything else i should look for, i'm planing on asking quite a few questions when i go look. Dad said this guy will put things together just to get it going, but hes pretty sure we can get it going.

Well, sounds like you might be ready for it. Don't let it being a Ford throw you too much. They did foul up how they number the cylinders. #1 starts on the pass side front, and they go back 1234 on the pass side, and the front driver's side is 5 and then going back 678. Not sure why they did that.
And after awhile you might actually fill your brain with all the useless changes Ford made to their engine line ups and bellhousing pattern changes.
I will let you know the 351m/400 are sort of considered oddballs now, they made them starting in the early 70's and stopped making them in the early 80's. They were never anything to really talk about since their compression was so low. But their heads are decent, angled valves and such. People do buildthe 400 up sometimes, not so much the 351m. And Ford never made a 4bbl factory intake for them, if that tells you something.

I know fords good i have a 72 f250 bump side with a 360FE and a 73 f100 dentside with a 390fe, i know fords just not the 80s stuff, or the 335s oe the 385s.

I'dont know if that is that importnat, my plan for it is put a 460 back into it, being it used to have a 460 in it, and assumeing that everything is still setup for a 460... but for now all i can do is talk to the owner and see what all has been done, i'll update whether or not i get it. Thanks for the replies.

Like was mentioned, eyeball the lug nuts. If it only has 5 per wheel, it did not come with a 460 from the factory.
If it has 8 lugs, it is possible it is a f250/350 frame with a f150 body sitting on it. It then could have been a 460 equipped frame.
So it is for sure a 5 lug, and it for sure has the divot for the 460 filter, my dad was under the impression from the original owner( not the current guy selling it) that it was all special order, have not looked at the vin, not really to worried about it. the current engine is out of like a 79 car 351m been fully rebuilt by some shop(???) current owner said everything slid together just fine when they put the 351m in so i dunno, do think i'm gonna buy it.
So..... You're looking for a power steering bracket setup for a 335 series engine???
With far less crank 'stickout' I hope the pilot bearing or torque converter is seated.
