Low test, mid grade or high test

I am new to the forum, I have a new to me 13 F150 5.0L XLT SCrew. Everything in the owners manual says to run low test fuel (85 octain). I've done nothing to the truck as of yet (working on it). I've always ran high test in any v8 I've owned. I do live at 9,700ft and work at 10,000 ft. My thinking is that the extra octain at altitude might help with "everything"?
Any thoughts or comments? Please advise.

The engine is designed and tuned to run on exactly what your owners manual says to use. Running 93 when 85 will do is a waste of money and will give you no added benefit, in some cases it could actually reduce your mileage and performance. The ECM will compensate for any changes in elevation.
