2016 3.5L ecoboost oil leak

Went out yesterday morning to do some scratch removal with the 3m kit backed my truck out and noticed 2 small oil puddles I got under there reached and felt around and it seems to be having a slow leak or seep from the oil filter area is anybody aware of anything with that area or had that problem. I also run a livernois programmer but I don't run my truck and dog it out. Just wondering if anybody else has experienced any of this.

Most logical explanation is that your oil filter isn't sealing properly. Could be some other things though, but none of them are common.

,Likely an oil filter gasket. Have you tried to turn it by hand?

Are you feeling/seeing oil actually leaking from the oil filter? The reason I ask is I sometimes get drips of oil in my driveway after an oil change because I don't get it all cleaned out of the catch tray. Your oil filter could be fine and maybe it's just left-over oil that's dripping onto the ground.

I suggest wiping the filter and tray down, giving the filter a turn to tighten down and see if it re-appears.

How long since you had an oil change? Was it a DIY job or was it done at a shop? If it was DIY, did the old gasket come completely off? Could have a small piece of the old gasket left. I know that's not real common, usually all of the gasket will stay or none of it. Were it me and a shop changed it, I'd probably go ahead and change it myself and inspect the sealing area on the block where the oil filter seats.

When I DIY, I always clean/inspect the mating surface for the oil filter. I recall one time long, long ago (in a far off galaxy?) when the old gasket stayed put when I removed the filter. Once was enough for me.

Truck has 11k miles on it it's ha one oil change I did here at home. It's never leaked before and just started within the last day I park on white concrete the puddles weren't big at all but I reached in and wiped everything down. I know most I the oil was on the bottom of the filter where it seats against the face of the motor. I was just wondering if pushing it with a programmer would increase oil pressure at the filter point and make some blow out. I'm running royal purple oil with a k&n filter. I grabbed the filter and twisted but it wasn't loose at all. Another thing is it only leaked that one day I've been running it and no more drips so far. I don't get it. Also the dipstick shows perfect oil level so I'm not losing any on the road.

I'm not sure about the tuner, whether it would or wouldn't cause issues such as that. I've never heard of it, not to say it wouldn't. I'd keep a close eye on it, personally, I'd change the oil and check everything out, if not, I'd go bat chit crazy thinking about it!

Nope, that wouldn't have anything to do with it. Oil pressure is exclusively dependent on temperature and RPM. Highest oil pressures are always when the engine is cold, and therefore engines with pressurized lubrication have a bypass setup to prevent high pressure from doing damage when the oil is really cold.

The only way a tuner could cause an oil leak is if it caused connecting rod failure and punched a hole in the block or oil pan. Doesn't sound like you have to worry about that.

Ok new info I went out climbed under there grabbed the filter and turned like a sob I got it to twist a good 3/4 of a turn maybe a whole turn. I guess I'm a little gun shy about getting things so tight to the point of it breaking I'm a big guy and try not to force things when they seem tight id hate to break that little tit off that the filter threads to or strip it out. But there was no new oil leaking from where I cleaned it all the other day so maybe this will solve it.

Maybe the 3.5 Ecoboost is just a bad a$$ truck and it's marking its turf.

Check the seal on the eco vaccum boost as they have been failing.

Yep, my vacuum pump is leaking. I need to fix it, but have been putting it off until the weather is better. It drips onto the passenger side exhaust, make's it smell like a diesel when I'm driving it.
