6R100 question

I have noticed that my truck takes longer than normal when shifting into gear. The most noticeable is when I'm in reverse backing up and then shifting into D, it seems to take too long to engage. Anyone else have this issue?

I have noticed while traveling 30-40 mpg and I give her gas, she really engages that transmission and cooks. Impressive.

Hey Superduty , you don't have the 6R100 though.

Rain, it sounds silly but have you checked your fluid level? Does it do it only when cold? Any other conditions you might be able to attribute?

Haven't noticed this at all but then I usually idle 15-30 seconds after starting before shifting out of park. Like kry said start with the fluid check since low fluid can cause sluggish shifting and also check the transmission cooler lines and make sure they are dry where they enter the transmission. There is an fsa out on those for a very limited number of trucks.

This may be normal. The 6R80 in my F150 always had a long shift delay from reverse to drive, and it's very closely related to your 6R100.

Well, today I checked the level, it is low or below the hash marked area. Not by much but indeed not where I would have set it. I will add some and report back. Thanks

It's pretty annoying to me, I can't imagine what I'm experiencing is the norm, but maybe it is. I drove a 2014 3.5 EB for 20k and don't remember it being like my current F250

[QUOTE=kry226;17036567]Hey Superduty , you don't have the 6R100 though.

F250 gas has 6r100, F250 diesel and all f350s have 6r140

I know my '15 F150 definitely shifted slower between R and D than my '13 did, and was slower than any vehicle I've ever owned. Awkward when you're sitting in the middle of the street after backing out. My Transit with the same transmission doesn't take nearly as long, but was made a few months before the F150 was. I remember a thread talking about this increased delay explained as protecting the transmission somehow, but I can't find it.

Can you time how long it takes to shift?
