Thanks Tom, I noticed the Birds on the Bat in your sig, you from the STL area?

Thanks Karl, hopefully won't add too much on the pin. Once I get her loaded well do another weigh

Thanks to everyone for all the input and advice. My 2010 Jayco Octane 29ft TT Toy Hauler was totaled out after a hail storm we had a couple weeks ago. Going to a fifth wheel and adding 10 ft. is a little intimidating but I will admit she pulls smoother than my TT did.

Here she is getting towed away by the insurance company. Kind of sad

Bob, you'll love the 5th wheel vs. TT. Get her on the highway and it will just stick behind you like and arrow. You won't even notice the extra 10'... until you start camping...

I'm actually in central MO (near Jefferson City), but am a big Cards fan!

It's amazing how much better a fifth wheel pulls as opposed to a TT. There is no comparison really!

Definitely sad to see the old one leaving.

You cannot load any more onto the truck - it is at gvwr.

the trailer also added 100# to the front axle. This is what it should do. If the rear sags too much under load, it can actually take load off the front axle.

what you can do is put more into the trailer so long as it does not add to the pin weight. You need to add stuff at the back of the trailer, behind its furthest rear axles. Unfortunately most fresh water tanks, storage areas and empty refrigerators are well forward of those axles.

Camper 2016 Fuzion Impact 361 Specifications
Sleeps 8
Slides 3
Length 39 ft
Ext Width8 ft
Ext Height13 ft 1 in
Interior ColorSanta Fe
HitchWeight 3115 lbs
Dry Weight 12820 lbs
Cargo Weight 4180 lbs
Fresh Water Capacity 88 gals
Grey Water Capacity 84 gals
Black Water Capacity 60 gals
Tire SizeST235/80R16E
GeneratorOnan 5.5

Weight from yesterday without the camper
Steering Axle = 4,900
Drive Axle = 3,560
Gross Weight = 8460

Today with camper
Steering Axle 5,000
Drive Axle 6,600
Trailer Axle 9660
Gross Weight 21,250

So Pin Weight.... (camper advertised at 3,115 lb pin weight)
GVWR 11,500 (from door sticker)
GVWR 11,500 minus Gross Weight of truck 8460 = 3,040 left for pin weight

Actual Pin Weight
Drive axle with camper 6,600 minus Drive axle without camper 3,560 = 3,040 actual pin weight (how in the hell did that happen???)

Rear GAWR = 7,000 lb (from sticker)
Actual weight with camper 6,600

GCWR 23,500 (from manual)
Actual with camper 21,250 leaving 2,250 for cargo

Not sure you can load a truck closer to the limits than that...
Air bags go on tomorrow

Im going to go out on a limb and ask when you weighed your truck did you have all passengers and "stuff" in the truck as you would normally when you travel? Ive been running numbers like crazy with my truck and what really its me over is the passengers in the vehicle.

Filled the tank before weighing and just me in the truck. Wife is only other passenger and was not in the truck.

To the OP, my fiver pin weighs in at 3000 lbs according to the CAT scales. That puts my drive axle at 6600 lbs. I feel pretty comfortable with that. When I buy new tires, I will get the 295 65r20s that are good for over 4000 lbs each so that I can gain a bit of margin there. I have Firestone Ride Rite air bags that I absolutely love. The rear of my truck doesn't go below level without them, but the overloads are engaged. I like to air the bags up just enough to keep it off of the overloads. Makes for a less bouncy ride.
Great info...
i have similar setup and want to go to 295/65r20 tires. But, concerned about rubbing. Are you planning to level yours? I keep hearing I have to level it to run those tires? If I level I guess I have to do something to the rear to keep from sagging?

I'll refer you to the thread above. Look at Painted Horse's posts. He has experience running that size both stock and leveled. Everything that I have heard suggests that it is ok stock. I'm thinking about a 1.5" leveling kit. I would do more, but I don't want to mess with my towing stance too much.
