Need heelp asap! Released parking brake levered and heard usual sound but no release, brakes still applied... I was messing with SEIC this weekend and may have sent power through the white with violet wire... I am color deficient.... according to Q256 The BCM parking brake input can not source any current. The body builder must supply a high impedence circuit with a 20kohm resistor or larger to prevent faulting the BCM. So is my BCM shot?
Not sure which one but I would start with checking all of the fuses in dash and under hood. The diagram doesn't show which one is specifically tied to the bcm but if you did send voltage down an impedance line something should have popped.
Have you looked to see if you are throwing any codes. i dug this up looks like the system may be locking the brakes. Try clearing the codes (if you can)
"Because of a service brake circuit characteristic at engine-start, invoking SEIC may cause the diagnostic error code FFG_BOO to get flagged (recorded in the PCM). To avoid this, simply tap the service brake pedal sometime after engine-start and prior to invoking SEIC. Once the code is set, SEIC may not be available until it is erased."
Thanks doc, I checked as much as could, had it towed to ford, mech hooked it up and cleared everything. Light still on, he then checked the BCM and it pointed out the light was on, he tried jumping the brake light switch, no luck in turning light off though. I left it with him though, he's on my side, no knowledge of me trying to hook anything up wink wink
Not that you can do anything about it now but it would have been interesting to hook up FORScan and run a self test on the BCM. You mentioned there were no DTCs so maybe it wouldn't have shown any failures but with that many failures I'd think it would have shown a problem.
This does bring up an interesting point though. When someone starts getting weird stuff like this, FORScan is an option to pre-test modules before going to a dealer. With the truck under warranty it's not a big deal but as the trucks start aging this is probably something to remember.
Lol thanks, I can see color, most if em anyways. Just under the dash in the footwell area on an overly bright day, the light beyond the footwell ws over powering to my photo sensitive eyes. Lesson learned that's for sure.
