I sometimes listen to Limbaugh on AM 690 out of Jax, FL. I'm in south Georgia. While test driving this truck I noticed a whine on the AM radio that increases in frequency as the engine rpm's increase.
My Expy doesn't do this and another similar F-150 doesn't do it.
There are 2 noise suppressors on the front of the 5.4L and probably the 4.6 too. They are on the front of the heads near the intake. They look like sideways U's. [ ]
One or both could either be bad or unhooked. Also, the radio could have a bad chassis ground.

on my old SUV ( a 93 explorer) i noticed that too. everytime a Texas A&M game came on i would go to the store and it would fade in and out. maybe because i added my radio myself but now on my new f150 it does it too. i have tried everything but still can't figure it out. if you find out let me know. i hate missing my team play.
What you need to do is to get a antenna filter.
I used a [ ES014 am/fm antenna noise filter made by Scosche ]
I had to order mine at Radio Shack. You can also get them at Valco Electronics on line. They are easy to install, they just plug in between your antenna line and your radio. I was amazed at how well they work. There are other brands also but I can't speak for them.
