steering help

Hi, I recently purchased a 2011 250 SD from a dealer who had installed a lift kit, I took the lift off, now the steering wheel doesn't sit straight across when the wheels are straight, any insight to why and how to correct? Thanks in advance

You need to take it to a alignment shop. They can fix it there

You can loosen the adjusting sleeve from the steering knuckle and rotate it until the wheel is centered. Have the key on so the steering wheel isn't locked. Takes all of about 15 minutes to get it right and will save you some cash.

Yes, he can center the steering himself, but I'd still bet he has alignment issues after pulling the lift. If it were mine I'd get the alignment checked, and usually the last thing they'll do is reset the steering wheel to center once the numbers are in spec. It's usually well worth the $ in tire savings alone.

I agree whole heartedly, yes he could fix it himself....if he knows how but after the truck was lifted and then removed I can just about guarantee that the front end needs some attention. Depending on the miles it may need ball joints also. It will be money well spent but find a VERY GOOD reputable shop to do the work....not Walmart or Sears.

I agree, but he asked about the steering wheel. Maybe he had it aligned already, maybe someone else will see this in a search, maybe he is going to align it himself, I don't know. I just noted that yes, it is in fact possible to re-align your own steering wheel.
