First Tow W/ New SD

First tow today with my new F350 SRW. Granted it was a utility trailer and very little hitch weight at all. I used a tow shank with a 6" (all I had) drop and it was still way too high which was no surprise.

My concern now, is that I will soon be towing a travel trailer and that my current weight distribution hitch will be useless. The trailer has slightly over 700 lb tongue weight.

Just wondering, if any of you have towed anything with similar tongue weight and if it dropped the rear of the truck any at all. Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat. 800lb tongue weight, Husky Centerline T/S weight-distribution & anti-sway hitch. It was perfect on my '14 F150, but I know it's way overkill on my SD. I'm still gunna try to use it, as I prefer to have the anti-sway functionality (my travel trailer is 35' long). They make drop shanks that'll work with my hitch setup that will allow me to achieve a level height on my trailer, which is probably the route I'll go.

I tow my 30 ft toy hauler travel trailer with my F350 DRW. It has 1200 lb tongue weight and drops my rear maybe 1/2 inch. I still use my equalizer hitch for the anti sway. Can't hurt!

I had to order a extended drop shank for my Equlizer hitch to get it low enough. Worked fine afterwords. It wasn't cheap though.

Did you get this through Equalizer or just buy one of the shelf somewhere? I lowered mine to the lowest bottom hole for my 1400 lb equalizer hitch and I am about 1/2- 1" higher than I was on my '09 F -250 so I think it will work but not sure yet.

I ordered it from Etrailer.com. I went to Equlizers site and used their drop shank recommendation tool. I took the measurements from the trailer, and the height of the hitch receiver and they recommended the correct drop shank and even suggested which holes to mount it in, which were spot on! Once I got the part number, went over to etrailer and ordered it.

Equlizer Shank Sizes Recommendatons

Mine ended up being this one. Its just like the original, SOLID steel and heavy!

Took a 1300 mile trip towing a 30 foot Arctic Fox Travel Trailer with 800 plus tongue weight. My tow vehicle is 2017 SRW F350 CCLB. Left my Distribution hitch home, used a 3 inch stinger. Towed into a fierce Head and side winds with a lot of 18 wheeler Truck traffic. Total trailer weight 10K. No issues.
